American Armed Forces Executes Deadly Attack in Pacific, Leading to 4 Deaths

According to a senior defense official, the American armed forces executed a fatal strike on a vessel in the eastern Pacific, killing four individuals.

“A US joint task force carried out a deadly attack on a craft linked to a Designated Terrorist Organization in open sea. Intelligence verified the vessel was traveling along a known drug smuggling route and was involved in illicit drug transport. A total of four male narco-terrorists were eliminated, and no US military forces were injured.”

Context and Prior Actions

This announcement comes a day after an announcement regarding a blockade of all targeted oil tankers to and from Venezuela. That statement on online platforms, the American leader accused Venezuela of using oil profits to fund narcotics smuggling and criminal activities, vowing to escalate the military presence.

Just on the previous day, the Pentagon stated it had conducted strikes on three boats it accused of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, killing eight people. Beginning on 2 September, more than 20 strikes have killed at least 99 people, the majority off the coast of Venezuela.

Administration Justifies Actions Amidst Pressure

The government has faced increasing pressure to release video of a 2 September vessel attack. However, the defense secretary have refused to do so. The administration has supported its efforts as a success, arguing it has stopped drugs from entering US shores and has pushed back on concerns that it is exceeding the limits of legal military action.

Although the administration has stated the operation is about stopping drugs destined for the US, comments from a top official appeared to suggest a broader geopolitical aim. In a recently published interview, the senior advisor said the leader “wants to keep on destroying vessels until Venezuela's president surrenders or concedes.”

This suggests the series of strikes may be linked to a strategy to oust Venezuela's sitting government.
