Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his future following another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received significant backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a period like this with results this poor.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to the top, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
