Inter forward Lautaro Martínez scored a late brace to earn his side a 2-0 win at Pisa, ensuring the visitors very much involved in the Serie A championship battle despite a somewhat shaky display.
Led by Cristian Chivu, Inter currently are placed third in the standings with 27 points total, tied with runner-up Roma and only one point behind table-toppers Milan. Meanwhile, Pisa hold the third bottom position with 10 points.
Inter traveled in Tuscany aiming to get back on track after suffering a derby defeat by Milan recently, followed by a European loss at Atlético Madrid. However, they were made to battle all the way by newly-promoted Pisa. The hosts created plenty of opportunities, but a clinical Inter broke the deadlock in the 69th minute mark when Argentine Martínez drilled a one-time shot into the roof of the net. The attacker then finished from close range with seven minutes remaining.

In Spain, Real Sociedad staged a thrilling comeback from 2-0 down to equalize at home against Villarreal, only to succumb to a late strike five minutes into added time. The visitors’ goals came from Ayoze Pérez just after the 30-minute mark and Alberto Moleiro in the 57th minute, but Carlos Soler quickly reduced the deficit and Ander Barrenetxea leveled the score three minutes from time. Yet, Moleiro had the final say deep into added time.
In the late Spanish fixture, Real Madrid journey to Girona needing a victory to go back to the summit ahead of Barcelona, who recorded a 3-1 win over Alavés on Saturday.
