Salah Extends Regret to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the team following the controversy from his public comments.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a vital match after making accusations and claiming his connection to the head coach had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has chosen not to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction remained positive. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
He also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is a positive trait. “I understand there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
Their results have been impressive in the period after the initial controversy. He feels the forward's comments were not intended to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, performing and on a positive run.”
