Loyal followers of the pop star are calling for that a person who breached a fence and seized the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating clip depicts the Australian man pushing past camera operators and charging at Grande while the actors made its way down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the event by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being detained", though official papers indicated that he was due to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed contains recordings of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a punishable act," commented an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Several followers accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the finale of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said one more message on Instagram.
Several attendees also questioned guards at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while others requested digital services to block Mr Wen's uploads.
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande looked startled when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had congregated in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had queued for as long as eight hours before it started.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-part adaptation of the popular theatrical musical Wicked, which centers on the surprising relationship between two distinct sorceresses.
The musical itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a rosé glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and scored ten award recognitions, earning two for best costume and production design.
