The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort hopes to provide aid to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The single was laid down after a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The notable list of performers appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of well-known figures from the music world. All took part in the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of producers and composers. The track blends a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The organizers behind the project have clarified that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These donations will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an established charity.

“There is no a rigid aim,” a spokesperson said. “We aim for whatever we can get. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The context in the region was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of property said to be in ruins or severely impacted.

“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”

The song is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
